Pinterest

I have over 1,000 pins on Pinterest, 75% of which are recipes.  Of that I've probably made less than a dozen.  Every week I say I'm going to finally try some new recipes, but end up going back to my old favorites.  This weekend however, I made two recipes from Pinterest pins!

The first was Ruby Red Sangria from winefolly.com.  The recipe is for a whole pitcher, but I decided to make an individual serving just incase I wasn't a fan, so I had to tweak it a little.  It was delicious and I will definitely be making again!

Ruby Red Sangria

Ingredients:
8 oz Pinot Noir
1/3 c. Ruby Red Grapefruit juice
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1 tsp of sugar

Mix all together ensuring sugar dissolves. Refrigerate before enjoying if not starting with cold wine/juice.

The second recipe I made was Cheddar and Horseradish Spread from Bon Appetit.  This tasted amazing although the consistency was off(as you can see from the picture it does not look too pretty) and was too thin.  The wine and horseradish pair really well together.  I think the next time I make it I will replace the sour cream with cream cheese and add more cheddar cheese. Will definitely be making again, so I will post an updated recipe.

Cheddar and Horseradish Spread

Ingredients:
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup dry white wine(I used Chardonnay)
1/3 cup of sour cream
3 tablespoons of prepared horseradish, drained
Few dashes of paprika
Few dashes of cayenne pepper (The recipe called for hot paprika, which I couldn't find, so improvised with regular paprika & cayenne)

Add all ingredients to food processor and process until smooth.  Serve with crackers.

My plan is to try to make new recipes at least twice a month, so will definitely share as I do.

Any favorite recipes you've found on Pinterest?  Would love to hear from you!

Birchbox Review: March 2015

How cute is the March Birchbox?  I absolutely love the design!  See below with product reviews from my Birchbox.  Again, was not disappointed with this month's items!

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
https://www.birchbox.com/men/vasanti-enzymatic-face-brighten-up

I really love the scent of this. It left my skin super soft, but it was a little harsh for my sensitive skin, so I will probably only be able to use 1-2 times per week.  It had a nice creamy consistency and a little bit goes a long way.  Not sure that I would purchase due to my skin being so sensitive, but I do think it's a good product.

Evologie® Intensive Blemish Serum
https://www.birchbox.com/shop/evologie-intensive-blemish-serum

I wasn't sure about this because the smell reminded me of the acne creams I used as a teenager that bleached all my pillowcases, but I ended up liking it.  It reduced redness and swelling and helped blemishes heal faster.  I think I may purchase the full size when this runs out.

It's a 10® Miracle Leave-In Product
https://www.birchbox.com/shop/it-s-a-10-miracle-leave-in-product

This was one of the featured Birchbox picks, but I was disappointed that when I went to select, it was already gone.  So I was very excited to find this in my box!  I really love it.  It has a great fresh clean scent and definitely helped with detangling.

Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge in Paris

I was a bit nervous about this as I pretty much only do a nude lip, but part of the reason I purchased Birchbox was to try new things.  I ended up loving this color.  It's really pretty.  The applicator is not great though; it picks up way too much product.  And you do have to be careful not to get on the surrounding skin because it's a bit hard to get off.  I would like to try some of the other shades, but not sure I would spend $29.

Unfortunately, not too much to say about this one...  I really liked the scent, but I just don't wear perfume.

Would love to hear your feedback!

My First Birchbox

So I finally signed up for Birchbox!  Was super excited to get my first box and definitely was not disappointed.

Supergoop. Cynthia Rowley. Beauty Protector. Harvey Prince Hello. Beekind.

Below are the products I received in my first Birchbox.

Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+ - Light to Medium

I fell in love with this!  I have been a cult follower of Bare Minerals for years, but have been looking for something with more coverage as I'm starting to age(ugh) and notice signs of rosacea(double ugh).  This is fragrance free and is SPF 35 with no oxybenzone!  yay!  It is very light, but provides nice coverage. It is easy to apply and matched my skin perfectly due to its magical self-adjusting-ness.  Love love love.  I just purchased the full size.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle

Not a fan of this.  I really wanted to love this.  It had rave reviews on Birchbox.com, but I couldn't get past the scent.  It is very perfumy and the last thing I want to put on my fresh clean hair is something that's heavily perfumed.  I also didn't find that it helped with detangling.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner - Black

I really liked this!  It was creamy and easily glided on.  It stayed in place and was long lasting.

Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream

Smells really good and made my skin super soft.  A little bit goes a long way; I only use a small pea size dollop for my hands. Otherwise, I found the scent a bit overpowering.

BeeKind™ Shampoo

This was just ok.  It has a light lemony scent.  I had to use quite a bit of product(a large palm full) to feel like my hair was clean.  I do like that it's less chemically than other shampoos, but I'm a little(or a lot) frugal and I don't think I would pay $15(for 8 oz) for something that I have to use a lot of to get my hair clean.

Very happy I finally subscribed to Birchbox.  Love getting to try new products.  Looking forward to what's next to come!

Did you get any of these same products in your Birchbox?  Would love to hear your thoughts.  Or if you received different products and what you thought about those.
